AC repair didn’t work. So you need a new AC installation but aren’t quite sure where to start? You shouldn’t have to do it alone.
Before you go about installing a new AC system, it’s important to keep in mind the following information. Choose wisely, and call our team for more information!
#1: The Right Company Makes All the Difference
When we say that it’s important to choose the right company, we mean two things. First, only install air conditioners from brands you trust with a longstanding reputation for quality and efficiency.
Secondly, the right installers make a huge difference in how smoothly the AC installation goes. If you have the right people working for you, you can safely assume that the system is the right size for your home. Initial sizing inaccuracy is a common reason for an air conditioner that fail far sooner than it typically would.
#2: It’s All About Efficiency
When you’re on a budget, the couple hundred bucks you save by choosing a less expensive air conditioning system may seem worth it. But over time, the extra cost of ownership starts to add up. A high-efficiency system may cost more at first, but over time, the lower energy bills might offset this higher cost of installation.
Look for an air conditioner with a high SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) so that you know that you have a system that will save you money (but keep in mind the system must still be the proper size for your home). We often recommend that you choose a unit with a SEER of about 16 or higher.
#3: Add-Ons Are Often Available
You might look for certain special features while choosing a new air conditioner. For example, variable speed settings make a new AC quieter and, more importantly, help to keep temperatures within one or two degrees of the thermostat setting.
You should also consider making any major upgrades to your HVAC system at the time of installation. Setting up a smart thermostat, adding in a zone control system, and putting in whole-home indoor air quality equipment are examples of this.
