If you have a blank thermostat, there are a few things that we can do for you before you need to give us a call. If your thermostat is currently blank and the A/C is off, the first thing you will need to check is your breaker box. Make sure the breaker becomes checked before continuing. If the breaker is on and you have a blank thermostat, odds are your air handler unit is backed up.

What is the Air Handler Unit?

The air handler unit is the processing device that cools the air to your home. It often looks like a large metal box with a few hoses going into it.

Within the air handler unit is typically a drain pan that fills up with condensation and drains out. If for some reason, the drain line becomes clogged, or there is too much fluid building up, the liquid will flip a switch.

This float-switch device becomes triggered when there is excess water in the system. It is essentially a fail-safe to prevent damage to your system. If you can clear the drain line and ensure that water doesn’t back up into the system anymore, you can start your system up again, and everything should be fine.

If you do those steps and the thermostat remains blank, then you should give us a call, and our certified technicians will be at your home shortly for an ac repair.
